On Oct. 1, the Floyd County Fiscal Court held its tire pickup on route 80 in Eastern, for Floyd residents to stop by and drop-off any old tires they may have had laying around and not using. According to Floyd Judge-Executive Robbie Williams, the tire pickup helps residents do away with clutter and safety hazards around their homes. Floyd County Solid Waste Director Joe Reynolds said the tire pickup went on from Thursday until Saturday and added that the pickup was for only residential individuals and not commercial tire businesses. Reynolds added that once the tires are dropped off, they are hauled off by the contracting company and then repurposed.
