On Monday, Sept. 28, Betsy Layne High School welcomed back more than 200 of its students to their respective classrooms, which Principle Jody Roberts said was “very close to 50 percent capacity.” The school has undergone a number of changes due to the COVID-19 pandemic and to ensure its students and staff are safe, they have taken measures to ensure social distancing, mask wearing, proper disinfection around the school, as well as having a plan to trace students who may come in contact with the virus. Both students and staff were happy to be back in the classroom to see what this “new normal” would look like, but most of all, they were excited to see the faces of their students, teachers and friends.
